SatSMS give access to your personal message box. This message box works exactly like any mailbox where you can browse messages you have received. Messages can be fresh service news dedicated to a group of users or an e-lert (e-mail alert) dedicated to you only.
All messages received are listed in a table under four different columns.

Type

The type of the message received, indicated with an icon (e.g. news or e-mail ).

From

The sender of the message received. The sender can be the e-mail sender in the case of an e-lert (e-mail alert) or for instance your Internet Service Provider in the case of news.

Subject

The subject of the message received. It can be the subect of the actual e-mail in the case of an e-lert (e-mail alert), or the subject of the news.

Date

The date of the message received. It can be the date when the news was published in the case of news, or the date when the e-lert was created in the case of an e-mail alert.

Note: This date is NOT the date when the e-mail was sent!

Message Body

When you select a SatSMS from the table, its body is displayed within the text area below.
The message body for news is the actual news message. The message body for e-lerts (e-mail alerts) is a summary of the original e-mail. This summary may contain the e-mail address of the sender, the date when the e-mail was sent and the recipient and carbon-copy recipient name(s). It may also contain part or all of the original e-mail body.

Note: The content of the message body for an e-lert (e-mail alert) depends on your Internet Service Provider.

Delete Message

Click the Delete Message button to delete selected message(s).

Download E-mails

A Download E-mails button is available on the window bottom frame to access your mailbox and download the original e-mails that have generated the e-lerts received.
This button launches the default e-mail application defined in the Applications settings.
If you press this button when not logged in to SatSurf, a dialog is popped up that offers you to login to SatSurf before downloading your e-mails (see SatSurf).

Note 1: To download your e-mails via satellite using SatSurf, you might have to configure your e-mail application manually, or to use a "transparent" proxy client (e.g. Hummingbird Socks, SocksCapV2, ...). You may also use the OPENSKY™ Direct Access connection.

Note 2: E-mail alerting (e-lerts) is only available if your Internet Service Provider is compliant. Contact your Internet Service Provider to figure out the terms of this service.

Note 3: You can define which are the SatSMS channels received within the SatSMS settings. You may also define the behavior of OPENSKY™ when a new message is received.
